Rodkal recipe, Swedish red cabbage


Gronkal recipe. Swedish green cabbage, also called langkal.
Often served for christmas at the julbord.

Serves four:

1 kilo (2.2 pounds) Red Cabbage
3 tbs Cooking Oil
4 tbs Sugar
1 tbs Vinegar
1 small Apple

Salt & Pepper

1. Fry the cabbage in butter together with the sugar in a saucepan until soft.

2. Peel, deseed and shredd the apple, add it together with vinegar, salt and pepper to the cabbage. Put on a lid and let simmer for about 1 hour.
Thin with additional water if the cabbage get's dry.

Served traditionally as a part of the Swedish christmas table. Also a nice side dish for turkey or pork.
